Yeah, thing is, Avira annoys me greatly, first it kept picking up false positives, second it uses the system speaker to scream in your ear when it detects something, third it pops up an ad for the paid version with each update. I'd take NOD32 if it was completely free instead of Avira. This presents me with a dilemma. Should I put up with Avira's crap, pay out the ***** for a legit key for NOD32/Kaspersky (which I can't since I don't have any money right now), or torrent a key? I'm not supporting the last one, really, but if it's my only option I'd do it.

The good thing about free is that the license never expires.

If you install 7.5 pro (link above) you get a free upgrade to 8 pro. However the license expires 12/2008

True but the mirror works. (Rapidshare's captcha now forces you to identify symbols with cats attached to them.... Rolling Eyes )

FireFox 3.0 with Mcafee Site Advisor Add-On along with AVG 8.0 Site Advisor totally lets you know whats wrong with what site by giving it a green, yellow, or red checkmark next to the site link, explaining what they found in the tests along with users feedback of the site itself when searching billions of sites that come up on Google. The great thing about having 2 site advisors is the fact that you can use the second rating as a double standard to solidify whether it's safe to enter the site or not.

Ad-Blocker Plus, an essential firefox Add-on also eliminates many advertisement banners and redirects on various websites speeding up internet browsing, it comes in handy with those pesky file share popups on proving-grounds.net when hosters use the hosters to display the photo sets.

Set FireFox to delete all cookies upon closing the web Browser. Frequently delete files in the Temp Folder.

I've been adware, Virus, and Trojan free since 2006 Rolling Eyes

AVG Free is lightweight. Avira is the way to go if you want real free protection (and I found out how to disable the primary annoyances that turned me off of it last time).
