The new month is rolling around and it seems that in the very early going that the prices on the 9600GTs (since this is the type I'm going to get) are going up. I see the one card I was looking at has not only gone up $30 base price, the MIR is now expired on it too (expected the expiration but the price jump is big too). _________________ UMG UT3 Warfare and vCTF Admin

I got one of these on the way. I'll write my review of it when I get it (probably Friday). Geforce 9600GT $129.99 after $10MIR

If any one is in the video card market and it looking for the best bang for their buck I would suggest the HD 4850. If you are looking for a higher end card the GTX 260 and HD 4870 are good choices and for the low end look at the 3850 and 8800GS.

I have more faith in nVidia (could be unwarranted). The 9800GTX+ is about even with the 4850 and will start at the same price, and in SLI it comes quite close to the GTX280's performance, which is brilliant. ATI/AMD would have made a strong comeback had they kept their mouths shut until release. The 9800GTX+ was a quick counter and just what nVidia needs at this time. Also note the 8800GS was re-released as the 9600GSO (don't buy the BFG version without a good 3rd party cooler, the thing sounds like a hair dryer). _________________

I got myself yesterday an Asus GTX280. The thing is a whale. Seriously, it's a foot long. If you have a small case, just forget about it. I have an Antec 900 and it barely fits in. The nice thing about this Asus card is that it is entirely covered with a black painted steel case which protects it from wires that hug the damn card. My fps doubles from the 8800GTS320 and V7600FireGL

Always the same story.
I must note that the GTX280 isn't as quick to capture video with FRAP as the v7600. Not really surpising. |
