UT3 Warfare Tournament

In anticipation of the new expansion pack UMG League would like to present the UT3 community with a Tournament for Warfare. Feel free to spread the word about the UT3 Tournament the more people that know the more fun this will be. Finally here is your chance to show just how good you are at UT3. :)

Date and Time:
- March 20th-22th, 2009 and the first match will began at 5:00PM CST.

Team Setup:
-Team Size will be 6v6.
-You can pick your own teams, or if you want to participate in the tournament and do not have a team we can randomly assign you to one.

Registration:
- I will need everyone who is thinking about registering for the Tournament to make a post here.
- The last date for registering is March 1, 2009.

Prizes:

The first place team will win a UMG sponsored gaming server. The winner of the tournament will receive a 12 slot UMG sponsored premium server for 6 months. Not only will your team be competing to be the best team on UT3, but you will also be competing to win your own gaming server.

Other:

I plan to have live video broadcasting of the tournament with announcers(If you have a strong knowledge of Warfare and are interested in being an announcer be sure to send me a PM). This would give everyone a chance to watch the best of the best face off.

The Tournament server is up and running now. This will be the server that the Tournament is held on. This server will be open to everyone. If you would like to setup a private practice time or scrimmage with another team just send me a PM.

Server IP for the Tournament Server: 74.63.66.156

Since custom maps are allowed for the Tournament I created a map pack for all allowed custom maps.

I will be providing a team speak server, so if any of the teams need a voice server to communicate for their match or practice that is not a problem. Team speak IP: 74.63.66.156

If you have any suggestions or comments about the tournament be sure to let us know. We will be taking suggestion and making small tweaks to the tournament up to February 28th.

Tournament Specific Rules (Warfare)

Match Rules & Scoring

1. Each match consists of three maps one map is selected by each team and one map is selected by UMG League as a tie breaker map. Each map consists of multiple fifteen minute rounds (plus overtime) with each team playing each side of the map switching sides between rounds. The winner is decided by the first team to win two (2) maps.

2. A winner of a map is decided by the first team to reach three points. Teams receive two (2) points for core kill in regulation time two (2) point for a win in overtime.

3. Drawn matches are NOT allowed.

4. Spectators are not allowed, only UMG Admins maybe allowed to spectate the match.

5. This is a Single-elimination tournament and it will be setup in a bracket configuration.

6. Excessive use of taunts, Taunt/Fire and Taunt/Movement binds are not allowed.

7. Matches are 6v6 by default although if a team can not get all 6 members to show that team can still play. The undermanned team can ask the opposing team to reduce there team size to match the undermanned team size, but the opposing team does not have to accept that request. In that case the undermanned team can either play with the players they have or forfeit. Due to the nature of the tournament there will be no rescheduling.

9. Clans are not allowed to share line-ups.

10. Client Settings

a. Clients must be running the latest official Unreal Tournament 3 patch which is currently version 2.0. No CustomUT/UTComp is allowed any version for  War matches.

b. There are no rules on netspeeds for the UT3 tournament. Dynamic Netspeed is optional but not prohibited.


11. Server Settings

All servers will be hosted by UMG League for this tournament. The setting of the tournament servers will be the same of the current UMG League Warfare Server. The tournament servers will be pure servers.
Except for these changes:
PlayersBalanceTeams-False
PlayersMustBeReady-True
Score to win - 1 ( This ends the map at the end of each round, regardless of score, thus forcing everyone to ready up for each round)


Cheating and Abuse

1. The cheating and abuse policy applies to all UMG Tournaments. Any cheating or abusive behavior during a match will result in a forfeit loss. This means no un-sportsman like conduct during a match.

2. It is strictly forbidden to use accounts of other users even if the users are in your clan. Such cases will always be considered abuse and subject to temporary bans. This does not apply to players who are forced to share GUID´s.

Note players with Missing Unique Hash will not play in any matches on UMG Tournament. Admin of the match server are to have there settings to Kick players with Missing Unique Hash.

3. It is not allowed to take advantage of or abuse bugs. Any kind of bug abuse is considered cheating and will lead to a forfeit loss unless otherwise mentioned specifically in the game-related rules.

4. All programs or files either changed game files or new files that change the game or add to its functionality or which interact with the game in any way are strictly forbidden. Modified versions of the game´s resource files are always forbidden regardless of what they do. The use of any forbidden program or file by any tournament member during a match leads to a forfeit loss and could lead to a removal and ban from UMG in major cases.

5. Programs that do not interact with the game in any way are allowed even if they can be used and operated simultaneously with the game. Voice communication programs are examples of such programs.

6. Clans abusing the tournament system in any way in order to gain an advantage or just to be a nuisance will be deleted. Further punishment may include deletion of the accounts of the person responsible for the abuse in extreme circumstances. For example someone who has made fake accounts for fake wars may lose all of his/her accounts.

7. All matches will be server side demo recorded. UMG will make an effort to have one admin present during each match, although this can not be guaranteed.


Conflict Resolution

1. The match conflict system functions as a court room with a tribunal of UMG admins acting as judges. A match conflict can be made when the result entered by one team is not accepted by the other. Due to the extra workload conflicts cause by the rules above are to be strictly followed.

2. If you feel your team did not receive a far match you have 12 hours after the end of you match to email a formal complaint. If you exceed the 12 hours you complaint will be null void due to the nature of the tournament.

is camping the tank up on the platform in the primary on WAR-Downtown considered an exploit/glitch? IMO it is. We have a match with this map tonight and need to know asap.

Then you need to ask about the Bender as well. I personally don't mind the vehicles up there. Even if it is a bug, it has been used so frequently that I consider it a standard tactic now. It's been used in ladder matches without protest as far as I know.

I think if Epic considered it a bug, it would have been fixed by now. It's as easy as fixing the collision on the bollards or throwing up some simple tank blocking volumes (see tank crossing). They haven't done so, and they're not going to respond to your thread at their forums. UMG has allowed it in their public server and it's been allowed to date in competitive matches. Unless Bob says otherwise, it will be allowed this weekend.

Sanchez, if you want some tips on how to counter that strategy, let me know. ;)

nah I dont Downtown enough to care. We may forfeit for that map. I dont play buggy maps...

because buggy maps should not be in comp play. Just because exploits are accepted in pub play doesnt mean they should be in comp. I'm not trying to create drama I'm just saying "no" to buggy maps. I'm not being prejudiced either: my Terra Sirenum MSU should be removed from UGL also since it is buggy...

Just because Epic doesnt fix it doesnt mean anything either. How many things have they let sit since UT3 came out that either didnt work or worked like *****?

The fact is whether or not it's a bug is debatable. Some think it is, some think it's not. Fact is, UMG is hosting the tourny, and UMG sets the guidelines for what is acceptable in the matches and what isn't. If you forfeit the map, it's an automatic loss. If you play it, you have a chance to win the map. By saying that you won't play it because you think it's a bug you are being needlessly dramatic. A.k.a. "you're biting off your nose to spite your face."

no worries So's....

In the future Bob, please put in the rules what you deem to be glitches. Many people think this is indeed a glitch but we are playing by your rules which need to be a little more specific.

The reason this came up now is because we didnt even practice this map until last night when we were reminded of the "bugs" in it.

I would also like to offer some advice: a glitch is a glitch is a glitch is a glitch, regardless of size or color. No glitches should be allowed in a competitive tournament and you should consult an experienced competition organization, such as ClanBase, rules when creating your own. Just because something is allowed in pub play doesnt mean it should be in comp play.

UGL was used as the template for the rules, which btw also allows the tank in the prime.

Sanch3z73 I apologize about the confusing of the mater. For the next tournament I will clear up the issue of map bugs in the tournament. Since it is the day of the tournament I did not want to make any rule changes, but for the next tournament map bugs will not be allowed.
